SPIRIT NOTES
We cooked what was originally called Lothringer Speckkuchen, but when France gained control the name was changed to Lorraine and it became the well-known Quiche Lorraine. As one would expect from this distillery, there's a twist as the bacon lardons used were peat smoked. Certainly, different on the palate with old school medicinal mouthwash, TCP and deep heat rub which recalled the quote of Alexander Fleming - “if penicillin can cure those that are ill. …” Water changed the aroma somewhat with an explosion of smoked pineapple and banana while we wondered, returning to France, whether this might just taste like that miraculous magic potion given to Asterix by the village druid Getafix.
