SPIRIT NOTES
The panel initially noted canvas knapsacks, brown bread, shoe polish and dried apricot on the neat nose. We also found peach stones, dried flowers and honeysuckle. 'Charismatic' was the consensus. With water it evolved some lovely notes of lemon verbena, cod liver oil and lightly sooty touches along with citrus rinds and porridge. A firm bodied and slightly old school malt. The palate initially was warm with white pepper and intriguing notes of gorse flower, mineral oils, shoe leather and tiger balm. Dilution made it easier and more cohesive but thickened the texture. We got notes of ginger cake, red apples, vanilla fudge, grassy olive oil, aniseed and eucalyptus.
